Welcome to Aziza, a Moroccan gem located in San Francisco's Richmond district. This wine and cocktail bar offers a unique dining experience with a blend of traditional Moroccan flavors and modern twists. As a food reviewer of Restaurant World, I had the pleasure of exploring the diverse menu offerings and experiencing the vibrant atmosphere at Aziza.
From the moment you step into Aziza, you are transported to a world of gastronomic delights. The menu features a variety of options for both meat lovers and vegetarians, with Pescatarian and Vegan options available. The restaurant also caters to those with dietary restrictions, offering a range of dishes to suit every palate.
One standout feature of Aziza is their exquisite meal kits, such as the Moroccan BBQ box and take & bake chicken basteeya. These kits bring the flavors of Morocco right to your doorstep, allowing you to enjoy a gourmet meal in the comfort of your own home.
As a reviewer, I had the pleasure of sampling some of Aziza's signature dishes, such as the cornbread with harissa butter, the slow-cooked beef short rib, and the grilled eggplant with charred eggplant puree. Each dish was a masterpiece in itself, bursting with authentic flavors and expertly prepared.
But it's not just the food that makes Aziza special. The restaurant's ambiance, impeccable service, and attention to detail all contribute to a truly exceptional dining experience. Whether you're looking for a romantic date night spot or a place to gather with friends, Aziza caters to all occasions.
Overall, Aziza is a must-visit for anyone looking to explore the vibrant culinary scene of San Francisco. With its unique blend of Moroccan cuisine, extensive wine and cocktail selection, and inviting atmosphere, Aziza stands out as a true gastronomic gem in the city. Make sure to book your reservation and experience the culinary magic of Aziza for yourself.
Aziza: A Gastronomic Gem in Richmond My boyfriend surprised me with my birthday dinner at Aziza, and it was absolutely incredible! We'd been wanting to try this renowned Moroccan restaurant for ages, and it exceeded all our expectations. The old fashioned cocktails were a delightful start to the evening, perfectly balanced and expertly crafted. But the real star of the show was the food. The cornbread was the best either of us had ever tasted, with a delightful crunch and a hint of sweetness. Every dish we tried was a masterpiece, bursting with authentic Moroccan flavors and expertly prepared. Please looked at the photos posted for the Josie Sourdough bread, broccolini. Basteeya and salmon. Aziza is a must-visit for anyone seeking a truly exceptional dining experience. The combination of exquisite food, impeccable service, and vibrant atmosphere makes it a standout in San Francisco's vibrant culinary scene. They even gave us gourmet chocolate chip cookies as a complimentary birthday dessert.
Way back when, we ate at Aziza, and it was a revelation. From the drinks to the food...epic all around. This isn't a riches to rags review. Aziza is still really great but it's far more approachable than before. First the not so good, we dined early and the place was fairly empty. The service was not great. Not terrible but kinda slow then fast then slow. Lots of clinks and spills. Fine. The dining room and bar are beautiful....wow, the sound really projects and it feels noisy. The bar is cool but our drink( like an old fashioned with balsamic and strawberry) was pretty meh. The food is still the star of the show! The prawns were a revelation, the Phyllo chicken was amazing ...love love the eggplant and the cauliflower. Really great. We will be back. Also bro, please stop pushing the cornbread. It's fusion but wow...dry.
We'd had a Wonderful Brunch a few months ago & I thought it would be nice to try for my birthday dinner. Good decision! (Older ...Wiser). Wonderful choices of dishes Creatively prepared & served. Good service. Priced fairly for what you get. I'll return. Try It.
Loved our time at Aziza, which offers an assortment of delicious dishes, an enticing wine selection, and a conversational atmosphere. A few options are vegetarian-friendly like the beautifully plated couscous salad, while the meaty options like a delicious, dazzling roast lamb. While the full room seemed to be staffed by only one or two servers, they did their best to provide service for everyone. With dinner and wine coming in at just $100 plus tip per person for our group, Aziza is a delicious reasonably priced Moroccan restaurant to make a reservation at today.
Came to Aziza for an upscale casual weekend brunch. The dining space is open and airy. Service was alright, although we waited longer than usual to place our order. I was surprised there was a dog allowed inside the dining area. We ordered: BURRATA $19 tomato| compressed cucumber | tahini | crispy seed dukkah EGGS BENEDICT $22 smoked salmon | herb jam | morrocanaise | crispy potatoes | green salad SALMON TAGINE $32 beets | preserved lemon | pickled onions | aziza dukkah SHAKSHUKA $24 hen egg yolk | chickpeas | kale | fennel | dill | country toast To be honest, things were overpriced. It didn't taste like Moroccan with a California twist. Each dish tasted good but not for the price, especially the salmon and the burrata appetizer. For dessert: YUZU CUSTARD $11 yuzu custard | cherry | thyme | long pepper DATE CAKE $14 salted caramel | crème fraîche ice cream | pecans These were both very good but again, the price point is high. Actual dish probably cost 1/3 to make. They've marked up their prices so if you're checking out their website menu, those prices are old. There is also a 6% additional fee for what is called the SF mandate. This is often a strange fee to me because some restaurants will automatically add this while others do not. In any case, the experience was fine, maybe as a nice treat, although honestly I can think of a lot better meals for $200 Metered parking on Saturday was $5/hr between 12pm-3pm so total parking fee was $7.50
Corn bread is amazing~ I don't like the dipping appetizer but everything else is so yummy. Lamp is a bit too sweet outside Shrimp is so good and the whole fish is so fresh and tender. Great Service and nice environment, will definitely come back~
11/10/23 Great meal! Upscale Mediterranean food with a very nice interior. Service was great and I was a big fan of the dinnerware. I think this is a great place to come for a nice dinner. What we got: 1. 3 spreads ($18) -- each spread was really unique and flavorful. best mediterranean spreads i've ever had. went great with the fluffy flatbread 2. Eggplant ($18) -- cooked really softly, it was good but okay 3. Mussels ($20) -- yum but not worth $20 4. Braised lamb shank ($45) -- meat falls off the bone but not that much flavor, wasn't gamey but also wasn't salty? 5. Basteeya ($28) -- best main of the night. crunchy and delicate puff pastry outer layers with an interesting sweet-ish stuffing inside. most unique dish of the night and grows on you after the first bite 6. Corn bread ($14) -- our waiter talked this one up bc of the harissa butter it comes with and we all thought the butter was so mid. the harissa just doesn't go with corn bread. the bread itself was great, super sweet on its own but not with the butter Would definitely come again and order only my favorites next time!
I visited Aziza for my birthday and had the most wonderful evening. My sister and I were seated within 5 minutes of arrival (we had a reservation). We enjoyed the mussels, cornbread, lamb & salmon tagine. Their food is packed with flavor; perfectly balanced to please the palette. The cornbread stood out as I have never tasted cornbread even half as good as this one. Incredible & off the charts would be a complete understatement. A relaxed, yet classy ambiance complimented with impeccable & friendly service. Thank you for a great birthday!
Waited about 10 mins with reservation at 1:30p for brunch on Mother's Day. The space is inviting with modern/Moroccan touches, lofty ceilings and exposed structural features. Service can be a little high brow (similar to Mourad). We ordered the eggs, salmon tangine and the signature date cake. Presentation and plating are quite nice. Aziza elegantly uses mainly savory and sweet flavors. We really liked the salmon tangine. It was very creative stew that plates nicely with toast. It's very flavorful but balanced. The sourness and oily complement the dish very nicely. This feels like an elevated version of the shashuka. The eggs were simple but very well prepared. Similarly the date cake had a nice blend of sweet and salty with the butterscotch. The attention to detail is nice. Bathroom situation is a little tough. Overall I recommend for brunch or dinner as a cheaper alternative to Mourad. Presentations are similar.
A michelin star wonder in the Richmond area as my first taste for Moroccan cuisine. Interior was chic and brightly lit dinner area with high table tops. Server was attentive with water and drinks. Hero of the dish was the different spices. We tried the red and green charbouleh. Red (parprika) completed with the charred prawns. The green (herbs)charbouleh completed the asparagus. Trio of spreads is a must get. Each spread has it's own different flavor from spicy to rich to creamy . Finally, the 24 hour slow cooked braised lamb with farro was worth the wait. Lamb meat just melt off the bone. Farro is now my new favorite couscous. I love the nutty texture. Don't forget to order the cornbread early as it takes time to bake. Dishes: PIQUILLO & ALMOND | DILL LEBNI & SMOKED TROUT ROE | WHITE BEAN & BLACK OLIVE CORN BREAD | HARISSA BUTTER ASPARAGUS | GREEN CHARMOULA | PINENUTS | MARROCANAISE | CURED EGG YOLKS CHARRED PRAWNS | RED CHARMOULA | HARISSA EMULSION | BLACK GARLIC | CONFIT GARLIC BRAISED LAMB SHANK | FARRO | CELERY ROOT | PARSNIPS | MOYER PRUNE | HERB SALAD
